PITTSFIELD -- It was a quick start for the Pittsfield boys soccer team on Monday afternoon. That led to a win.

The Generals scored two goals in the first eight minutes of the opening half and made them stand up in a 2-0 win over Hoosac Valley at Kirvin Park.

The Generals (2-4-1), who opened 0-4, are now unbeaten in three straight games.

"We came out strong, did all the little things we were supposed to do," PHS coach Andrew Antil said. "In the second half, our game wasn’t as refined."

Claudio Velez and Caesar Miranda had the goals for PHS. Jake Farron made eight saves for the shutout.

LENOX -- Gabriel Nogueira’s goal in the 78th minute broke the relative silence of the second half and gave the Wildcats the tie.

Lee coach Matt Kollmer had called a timeout with 5 minutes left to try and set up the goal.

"I said [we] had to pick it up and really put pressure on their back line," he said. "The play went to the wing. Jose [Mejia] made a touch inside, and sent it ... across, and Gabriel was able to run in and beat a defender."

Wahconah coach John Kovacs had a simple prescription for his team in the second half, and it worked as the Warriors outscored the Crusaders 3-0.

"It was a matter of winning 50-50 balls, hustling and just start passing," Kovacs said. "That’s what we did and the goals came."

Kevin Boino scored two of his three goals in the second half. His goal at the 20-minute mark broke a 3-3 tie and he completed his hat trick with three minutes left in the game.
