Things you should know:

n Coach Dave Schulman said he has a full team of boys and girls but he's not sure how deep his team will be. The Millionaires must replace All-Eagle MVP Erin Barry on the girls side, who dominated the league the last two seasons.

n The Millionaires have a lot of youth this season. Schulman said this group has plenty of potential. The question is whether Lenox will see that potential come to fruition this year.

n With most teams, the Millionaires could probably use some more gate time and some more training. "I think with a little bit of time and little bit of nurturing they'll be doing alright. I expect them to be pretty good this year," Schulman said. Monument Mountain

Things you should know:

n The Spartans drew a large team of 30 skiers, so coach Peter Dunham said the lineup on opening night would come down to time trials.

girls shared the county title with Taconic last year and the Spartans will be strong again in 2013. Returning are Monument's top two skiers from a year ago in juniors Emily Martin (fourth in 2012) and Jen Evans (seventh in 2012).

n In addition to top boys Trent Pfeiffer, Aaron House and Ian Akers, Dunham said he has some fast freshmen who could challenge for starting spots.

Mount Greylock

Coach: Colby Gail

Key returners -- Boys: Ryan Kuhn, Jr.; Nick Disanti, Jr.

Things you should know:

n The Mounties have 16 total skiers this year, but just four girls. That means Greylock doesn't have enough girls to compete as a team.

n Coach Colby Gail expects Kuhn and Disanti to compete for spots in the top 10.

n Greylock practices at Jiminy Peak where the Mounties only had three practices on snow as of Thursday.

Things you should know:

n Last year Emma Peplowski finished in the top 5 in five regular season races. She is looking for the support from the racing experience of Emma Pizzuto and Allie Williamson to make the Pittsfield/St. Joe's girls co-op team a contender.

n The Pittsfield boys are hoping to move up after finishing third in 2012. Sean Keenan, Erich Maynard and Garrett Dempsey were All-Eagle skiers last year and competed in the MIAA State Championship.

n Coach Bob Geller, in his fourth year, said he expects the mix of new blood and strong returners to make this a competitive year for both of his squads.

St. Joseph's boys

Coach: Gordie Roberts

Key newcomers -- Charlie Crall, So.; Mike Peplowski, Fr.; Chris Garrity, Fr.; Nico Terpak, Fr.; Paul Bullock, So.

Things you should know:

n The St. Joe's boys return to the league after a brief hiatus. Coach Gordie Roberts expects sophomore Charlie Crall and freshman Mike Peplowski to lead the team. Both have experience competing in interclub races at Bousquet.

n Roberts skis in adult races and has raced in the last two Thunderbolt Ski Races. He said he enjoys Alpine racing and wanted to get involved at the high school level.

n Roberts' main goal in his first year is to have his guys gain experience and help carry on the Crusaders' strong Alpine legacy.

Taconic

Things you should know:

n Taconic is coming off a banner year. The Braves were county boys champs last year and shared the girls title with Monument Mountain.

n Back for the Taconic boys is All-Eagle MVP Eamon Connor. Connor was dominant in 2012, winning the last four races of the season.

n The girls will be led by seniors Alyssa Latimer and Lauren Jones. Latimer never finished worse than fourth in 2012 while Jones had two top 5s. Juniors Maria Giacoletto, Amanda Ely, Michaela Craft and Lindsay Curry round out the same strong core that has been in place for two years.

Wahconah

Things you should know:

n Wahconah brings back its Alpine ski team after a hiatus of nearly a decade. This will bolster the county league and add two more qualifiers for Berkshire County at the state championships.

n Coach Jill Johnson grew up in the interclub and tri-state race programs at Bousquet and is now a racing coach there. She competed for St. Joe's in high school.

n Brittany Quinn, Belle Hauge and Matt Geyer all have prior race experience while Ben Schmitt and Brecken Burke shown Johnson they have potential. The good news for the Warriors is none of the above are seniors.
