PITTSFIELD -- Mount Greylock and Monument Mountain's boys got their Alpine ski seasons off to a fast start on Wednesday at Bousquet Ski Area.

Each pocketed a team win in the double feature. The Mounties won the first race, delayed after several lights went out on Monday, while the Spartans took the nightcap. The Taconic girls earned their second win of the year in the girls race won by Pittsfield/St. Joe's Emma Peplowski.

The Mounties won the opener behind top-five finishes from Ryan Kuhn (third in 45.37 seconds) and Nick DiSanti (fourth in 45.85).

"I put together a nice, solid run," Kuhn said. "I'm excited to see how we're going to do as a team."

Taconic's Eamon Connor won the first race in 43.79 and took the second in 43.22.

The Spartans took the nightcap with Trent Pfeiffer finishing third in 44.38. Lenox's Will Dyer-Kloman (44.2) was second.

"It looks like our rebuilding years are over," said Monument coach Peter Dunham.

The Taconic girls cruised in the second girls race of the season, with five in the top-10 led by Maria Giacoletto in second. Giacoletto won the first GS of the season on Monday, but finished behind Peplowski (45.65) this time.

"[Monday] I wasn't exactly thrilled with my run," Peplowski said. "[Wednesday], I was talking to my coaches and we decided we were going to go all-out or we weren't going to finish. I guess I just really wanted it today and I pushed myself really hard, pushed the limits to try to get that."

Second-place Monument was led by a third from Emily Martin (46.57). The first eight skiers behind Peplowski were from either Monument or Taconic.
