PITTSFIELD -- Courtney McLaughlin scored a game-high 26 points as Pittsfield High School’s girls basketball team avenged an earlier league loss with a 63-39 win over Monument Mountain on Thursday night.

"We played really strong defense in the first half," said General coach Joe Racicot. "We played the outside perimeter well and denied the ball down low."

PHS led 45-16 at halftime.

"Rachael Hunt did a good job for us on the boards," said Racicot. "She had 10 rebounds to lead us."

The Spartans got 15 points from Samantha White.

Lee 38, Taconic 31

LEE -- Without the injured Stephanie Young and her all-around game on which to count, the Wildcats are relying more on defense. Down 18-15 at halftime, Lee held the visiting Braves to 13 second-half points to earn the win.

Eileen Dooley led the way for Lee with 18 points. Taconic got eight from Kirsten McNeice.

Lenox 52, St. Joseph 28

LENOX -- The Millionaires’ Hayden Zinchuk scored 14 of her 20 points in the first half to get her team off the a strong start.

"Hayden had a big first half," said Lenox coach Nicole Patella. "She scored and rebounded well for us."

Zinchuk had 12 rebounds. Kendall Smith led the Crusaders with 13 points.

Drury 42, Wahconah 32

DALTON -- Danielle Racette’s 15 points led the Blue Devils past the Warriors.

Shannon Garvey added 10 for the victors, while Gabby Lavinio’s

10 paced Wahconah.

"We had opportunities. Our shots just didn’t fall," Wahconah coach June Blake said. "Drury took advantage of some opportunities they had on the other end.

"We were down four with 1:30 remaining, and Drury hit their free throws to close out the game."

Hoosac 62, Mount Everett 25

CHESHIRE -- The Hurricanes led 30-14 at halftime, but coach Ron Wojcik wasn’t very happy.

"I thought we weren’t as intense defensively as we could be, and I let them know," he said.

The result was a 19-0 third quarter for the home side that put this one away.

Amber Lesure led the Hurricanes with 13, while the Eagles’ Deseraye Conaway led her squad with 11.

Putnam 39, McCann 33

SPRINGFIELD -- The Hornets had no answer for Justice Wallace in the third quarter.

McCann led by a point at halftime, but Wallace scored 10 of her game-high 26 points in the third quarter to fuel a 39-33 Putnam win.

"She just couldn’t miss," McCann coach Mike Dowling said. "We were chasing her all over the place. She has a nice soft touch inside."

Mary Nguyen finished with 24 points, but once Eileen Zajac and Emijah Barton fouled out in the fourth quarter, McCann’s comeback attempt was much harder.
