Hamilton junior and Monument Mountain graduate Maggie Rosenbaum swam a personal-best time in the 100 backstroke Friday, but even that wasn't enough for a third consecutive Division III national championship.
Rosenbaum swam the final heat in 54.18 seconds at the D-III Championships just outside of Houston, but was out-touched by Kenyon sophomore and new meet record holder Celia Oberholzer (53.46). Rosenbaum had the previous best time in the 100 back in Division III this season.
Rosenbaum can still earn a title this weekend, as she's in the third of four preliminary heats of the 200 back today.
Williams College's women enter the final day of competition in fourth place. The Ephs have 254 team points, behind Denison (281), Kenyon (375) and leader Emory (428 1/2). Williams earned a fourth-place finish in the 800 freestyle relay, as well as McKenzie Murdoch's sixth-place finish in 1-meter diving.
