Gillian Campbell

Taconic, junior

Campbell went to Western Mass. in the 100 freestyle and 100 backstroke. She topped out with a solid performance in the 100 freestyle at states, moving up 20 spots from where she was seeded.

The coach's take: She had a new look on swimming. She really wanted it this year.

-- Plant Katie Nugai

St. Joseph, junior

Nugai is a sprinter, with the 50 and 100 freestyle the events that got her into the Western Mass. meet.

The coach's take: Her work ethic made her a good swimmer. She put in hard work in practice and it paid off for her.

-- St. Joe coach Shannon McMahon

Theresa Murphy

Pittsfield, junior

Murphy qualified for the first time as an All-Eagle pick by earning Western Mass. spots in the 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly. Her best butterfly was on the biggest stage, a 1:04.47 at the state meet.

The coach's take: She was solid all year and will also be looked to next year to win a lot of races for us.

-- Mazzer

Julia Whitney

Hoosac Valley, freshman

The freshman, whose twin Emma is also on this list, qualified for the All-Eagle team by reaching the Western Mass. meet in the 200 freestyle and 100 breaststroke. Whitney then finished 23rd in the state meet in the breaststroke.

The coach's take: She would classify herself as a breast stroker. She won a lot of points for us.

-- Hoosac coach Eryn Brewer

Maeve Wilber

Monument Mountain, sophomore

The MVP was the best swimmer in the pool for the Spartans. She claimed top-10 finishes in the state meet, finishing sixth in the 200 IM and 10th in the 100 backstroke.

The coach's take: She can swim any event and she is strong in all of the strokes. She works very hard to challenge herself in workouts and to get faster and stronger.

-- Svirida

Logan Gresser

Wahconah, senior

A repeat All-Eagle selection, the Wahconah senior had Western Mass. qualifying times in the 200 IM and the 100 breast. That belied her value, as opposing coaches understood she could compete anywhere.

The coach's take: It was a standout year for her. She had qualifying times in five events. She was a great leader and led by example.

-- Lussier

Liz Bernardy

Hoosac Valley, freshman

An All-Eagle pick as an eighth grader, Bernardy had to pick up her team's flag as a leader. She did that, and much more. Bernardy qualified for the 50 freestyle and 100 breaststroke at Western Mass. She was 22nd in the state meet in the breaststroke.

The coach's take: Liz had a great season. As an eighth-grader, she was kind of under the radar. She came out and swam really great.

-- Brewer

Emma Whitney

Hoosac Valley, freshman

Emma and her sister Julia jumped in, so to speak, and were good from the start. Emma was 12th in the 100 backstroke in the state meet and 15th in the 50 freestyle.

The coach's take: I could put her in anything. I could count on her for first or second place.

-- Brewer

Anna Zdziarski

Monument Mountain, senior

Zdziarski wrapped up her high school career with an All-Eagle designation and a pair of Western Mass. swims in the 100 butterfly and 100 breaststroke.

The coach's take: Anna has been a staple of our team for four years. Overcoming a shoulder injury that affected her ability to tran and still qualifying for her two top events shows her determination and grit.

-- Svirida

Mariah McDowell

Wahconah, junior

Wahconah's 1-2 punch of Gresser and McDowell kept the Warriors in meets all year. McDowell was a Western Mass. swimmer in the butterfly and breaststroke. She'll help pick up the mantle of leadership with the graduation of Gresser.

The coach's take: She's a proficient distance swimmer. She's one of our more quiet kids. She's self-motivated and strives to do the best she can whether it's in the pool for practice or at meets.

-- Lussier

Rowan Rice

Monument Mountain, sophomore

Two of the three Spartans on the All-Eagle list return next year, and Rice is one of them. The sophomore came into her own this year and had a 1:00.22 in the state 100 freestyle.

The coach's take: Rowan definitely had a breakout year. Last year, she qualified for Western Mass. in the breaststroke. This year, she qualified in every single event.
