LEE -- Lenox's Austin Salnitis gave up only one hit in his outing against Lee on Friday. It was not, however, a good trip to the mound for the Lenox left-hander.

Salnitis did not get past the third inning, giving up five runs on 10 walks and a hit batter. That was more than enough for host Lee, as the Wildcats scored a 6-2 victory in the season opener for both teams.

"We were expecting to see him because it was Lenox's first game. We were ready for his fastball and his control was off," Lee coach Chip Cummings said.

The game plan for the Wildcats was to make Salnitis work and they did just that.

Lee scored two runs on no hits, four walks and a hit batter in the second and got three more on a hit and six walks in the third.

J.T. Brown pitched five shutout innings for Lee. The Millionaires got to reliever Heamon Williams for two runs in the seventh.

Dean Tech 6, McCann Tech 4

HOLYOKE -- The Hornets were done in by a tough first inning where the surrendered five runs. From there, McCann was fine.

"It was the first inning," said Hornets coach Pat Ryan. "We get by the first inning we win the game."

Starter Joe Gwozdz settled down after that first frame, allowing just one more run the rest of the way against a tough Dean lineup. The hosts started the game with the first five players reaching base.

Tim DeBlois was strong in relief, allowing just a hit and striking out four in two innings. Eli Holland had a double for the Hornets.

LEE -- Alyssa Kelly scored four goals and had two assists while Lydia Graham had a hat trick as the Wildcats beat the Hurricanes in the season-opening game.

The Wildcats, who rolled undefeated through Berkshire County last year, jumped out to a 5-1 halftime lead and the Hurricanes never caught up.

"I'm happy," said Lee coach Dave Galisa. "We saw some things we need to work on. Any coach would tell you that."

Maeve Denning had three of Hoosac's four goals.

Pittsfield 12, Wahconah 10

PITTSFIELD -- Coach Jenna Giardina got her tenure with the Generals started right, getting seven goals from Victoria Symanski in the win.

Symanski also had an assist and scored the game-winner with about two minutes to play.

"The girls' faces at the end of the game were so happy," Giardina said.

Makenzi Astore, Kyla Nichols, Lindsay Curry, Rebecca Schnopp and Michelle White all had a goal for Pittsfield. Shea Hassett added three assists. Molly Barbarotta got the win in net with 12 saves.

Wahconah got four goals each from Alex Keator and Alex Wood. Sam Camp and Adrianna Jagiello had a goal each. Mikayla Weigel made seven stops for the Warriors.

Greylock 14, Chic. Comp 2

WILLIAMSTOWN -- Coach Lindsey von Holtz didn't need to worry. Upstart Comp was no match for her experienced group, and the Mounties cruised to a season-opening win.

Maggie Rorke and Emily Sabin led the charge with a hat trick apiece, but the Mounties had eight different goal scorers in all.

"When [the offense] ran the plays, they ran them well," she said.

The one trouble spot she saw was the defense in the midfield. She said anytime Comp gained possession in the middle of the field, it was able to take it right to goal. But once in Greylock's defensive end, it seemingly ran into a wall. For that, von Holtz was pleased.

"The [defensive] group collapsed well. The two or three people nearby, were quick to collapse," she said. We had a couple of big checks.

"I was happy with our around-the-goal defense."
