Brattleboro 6, Drury 5

NORTH ADAMS -- The Blue Devils struggled through another slow start. Brattleboro jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second inning and never looked back. Both teams had difficult defensive games, committing five errors each.

"We're not getting the timely hits, and we're not getting the early hits," Drury coach Mary Ann Maroni said. "We're two different teams right now. The team that played Taconic [Monday], was not the same team that played Brattleboro today."

Cat Record struck out four and issued just three walks as she went the distance for the Blue Devils and suffered the loss.

Amanda Ramsdell had a double in the loss.

MONSON -- Another big inning doomed the Hornets. This time, it was a seven-run sixth that sunk them. Monson loaded the bases in the inning and had a couple of hits that drove in runs to break open a 6-2 game.

Kaylee McNeice was 2 for 2 with a walk and a double and scored all three runs. Olivia Esoldi was 2 for 4 with a triple.

Despite the result, coach Kate Galli was happy with her young pitcher, Haley Malloy.

"Haley's doing a great job," she said. "We're putting a lot of pressure on this kid. Every game she's cutting down on the walks."
