Chanler Hospot tossed a one-hitter and Kendall Smith belted a triple to lead St. Joseph over Putnam, 13-1 in a mercy-rule shortened contest.

"Chanler pitched a good game for us today," said Crusaders coach Jim Stimpson. "She struck out 12 batters in five innings."

Jeanne Nazzarino homered for Putnam.

PITTSFIELD -- The Generals (8-4) scored seven runs in the first inning on two hits and eight walks and cruised home with the five-inning, mercy-rule victory.

Aoife Nester was one of four PHS hitters with two hits in the game. She hit a double and had a solo home run in the Generals' four-run third inning.

GREAT BARRINGTON -- The Spartans hit well, but were undone by 13 errors and 12 walks.

"We hit the ball, but we made 13 errors," said Spartan coach Sarah Mead. "We gave up 12 walks. You can't win doing that."

Erin Girard had three hits, incluing a triple, to lead Hoosac.
