LENOX -- Austin Salnitis tossed his first American Legion baseball no-hitter Wednesday, striking out 13 as Lenoxdale beat South Berkshire 4-1 at War Memorial Field.
Salnitis walked two and gave up an unearned run in the fourth inning as Lenoxdale (1-2) earned its first win of 2013.
"He was mixing up his pitches. His fastballw as untouchable," said Lenoxdale manager Brian Wade. "His curveball had more bite than any time I've ever seen it."
The lone run scored when South Berkshire's Trevor McFarland struck out in the fourth inning and reached first on a short passed ball. McFarland stole second and third and scored when Lenoxdale catcher Heamon Williams' throw to third went into left field.
Williams more than made up for that by driving in Lenoxdale's first two runs. He hit sacrifice flies in the first and third, plating Kenny Retzel both times.
Retzel had a single and a double to lead Lenoxdale, while Armani Ingegni also had two hits.
