LEE -- Angela O'Neil's 25 assists and Nyanna Slaughter's 16 kills helped the Taconic volleyball team to its biggest victory of the season to date, a five-set win at previously unbeaten Lee on Wednesday.
The Braves won the second, third and fifth sets of a 16-25, 25-12, 26-24, 23-25, 13-12 match.
Haley Hubbard had 13 kills and one ace for Taconic.
Braves coach Jennifer Doerle said the game was a huge win for her team.
"Our girls played well. We were passing the ball well, made plays when we needed to and capitalized on their mistakes," Doerle said.
Doerle said she hopes this game can help build momentum for her team. She added that a run through the Western Mass. tournament is in her team's sights.
Katie Morin led Lee with 17 kills, five blocks and 11 assists. Alyssa Kelly added nine kills, five digs and one assist, and Kendra Williams had three digs and 19 assists.
Lee coach John Warner gave credit to the victors.
"It was a well-fought match on both sides," Warner said. "Volleyball is a game of momentum. There are a lot of issues we need to sort out. ... Taconic is a scrappy team."
Pittsfield 3, Monument 2
PITTSFIELD -- The teams alternated victories in every set of the match, with Pittsfield earning a 25-12, 19-25, 25-21, 24-26, 15-12 win.
Sam DeCarlo led Pittsfield with 21 assists, nine aces, six digs and three kills. Emma Burnick added four aces and two digs. Emily Koldys had six kills and two digs.
Heather Bradbury led Monument with nine aces and two assists. Caitlyn Osak added six aces, five assists and four kills.
Pittsfield coach Brian Lawton said he was happy to pull out a close win.
"Monument came out with a lot of energy," he said. "We were lucky to get a win out of it."
Mount Greylock 3,
Mount Everett 0
WILLIAMSTOWN --Josie Verter led Greylock over Everett. Verter collected eight aces. Hope Willis added eight kills and Jenna Markland contributed 15 digs.
Kayla Krom led Everett with nine kills and five digs. Jess Abbott had four kills and four aces, and Parker Snyder chipped in with six aces.
Greylock coach John Albano credited his team's strong serving for the victory.
"We had some really good serving. They had some trouble with it," Albano said.
Lenox 3, St. Joseph 0
LENOX -- A strong service game propelled the Millionaires to a victory of St. Joseph.
"We had a real good serving night," said Lenox coach Ed Paquette. "That was the key for us."
Cami Smachetti had 15 service points, as well as two kills, seven aces and nine assists to lead Lenox. Amanda Strassler added three kills, seven aces, four digs and two assists and Lauren Carey had four kills, nine aces, 15 service points and our digs.
For the Crusaders, Andrea Krahforst-Lang had three kills, seven assists, two digs and an ace. Aileen Archambault added two kills and three digs.
