PITTSFIELD -- Matt Lawrence earned medalist honors and was the only golfer to crack 40 as Drury defeated Taconic 168-176 on Thursday at Berkshire Hills Country Club.

Lawrence shot a 4-over-par 39 on the front nine at Berkshire Hills and birdied the par-4 eighth hole.

Taconic was paced by Mitch Omelenchuck's 42.

"We played steady and there are some rough holes out there," Taconic coach Mike Hillman said. "We came up a little bit short today."

The Braves, now 7-5, still need one win to qualify for the Western Massachusetts tournament.

"Actually, it's the best round of her high school career and her lowest score ever," said Lenox coach Dick Salinetti of Schwartz. "And I was pleased with Kris' score, also. This was our best team score of the year."

WILLIAMSTOWN -- In a battle of two undefeated North Division teams, Pittsfield scored three times in the second half to win handily.

Despite the loss, Greylock coach Tom Ostheimer said that for the young Mounties to make noise in the Western Mass. tournament, they can look at this game as a measuring stick.

"[Pittsfield is] just a strong team. They play good positional soccer," he said. "That's the way we have to play come tournament time."

Lauren Daury had a goal and an assist for Pittsfield and Allie Hunt had five saves for the shutout.

SHEFFIELD -- Sage Angell recorded a hat trick to lead the Eagles to their fourth win of the year.

"We've been struggling all year to score goals," said Eagle coach Jesse Carpenter. "[Wednesday], Sage scored two against Commerce and [yesterday] got us off to a big start with two more in the first half. He gave a nice lift."

Angell scored twice in the first half and once more in the second.
