PITTSFIELD -- The Mount Greylock girls soccer team clinched a Western Massachusetts. tournament berth, beating Taconic 4-2 on Tuesday for its eighth win of the season.
The game started with a bang with the two teams combining for five goals in the first half.
Gillian Campbell opened the game with a goal in the first minute of play for Taconic. Greylock answered quickly with goals from Arianna Walden and Mae Burris-Wells to take a 2-1 lead 19 minutes into the first half.
Greylock took control of the game after a goal from Sophie Leamon late in the first half putting the Mounties up 3-2.
Taconic coach John Flynn said it was a back and forth game.
"Both teams hit the post. They hit it once; we hit it twice. We could have played with a little more intensity but we played well against a good team," Flynn said.

Pittsfield 9, Lee 1
PITTSFIELD -- The Pittsfield girls soccer team picked up its 10th win in a row Tuesday, as Allie Supranowicz and Aleah Sangiovanni combined for four goals.
The Generals did a great job of spreading the ball around as six different players scored for Pittsfield.
"Offensively we did well and moved the ball well," PHS coach Andy Waluszko said. "We moved well without the ball. ... Making runs which opened up the field for us."

Wahconah 0, Hoosac 0
WAHCONAH -- Wahconah outshot opponent Hoosac Valley but neither team could find the net Tuesday.
The Warriors fired four shots to the Braves' three leading to two saves from Hoosac goalkeeper Megan Richardson.
Wahconah's Jamie Downer and Kayla Kowalczyk shared the shutout for the Warriors. Kowalczyk had two saves. Megan Richardson had two saves for Hoosac.
Wahconah coach Pat West said both teams played well despite the lack of scoring.
"For a 0-0 game it was pretty exciting. Both teams had chances to win the game," West said.
McCann 4, Putnam 0
SPRINGFIELD -- It wasn't the blowout win the Hornets scored last time against Putnam, but it was just as solid. McCann grinded out a 4-0 win against a much-improved Putnam squad.
"Some of my freshmen and sophomores are getting stronger," coach Mike Dowling said. They're "getting more comfortable with each other."
Three underclassmen scored the game's first three goals, with Cheyanne Alcombright starting it off just 4:25 into the game. Jordan Budaj and Allie Gibeau followed with second-half goals to give McCann some breathing room before C.J. Schliech rounded out the scoring with 3 minutes to go.
Lee 4, St. Joe 2
LEE -- Two second half goals from Nick Pow helped Lee win its game Tuesday.
Lee took a 3-2 lead when Pow scored unassisted seven minutes into the second half.
Pow scored his second goal midway through the second half sealing the game for the Wildcats.
Coach Frank Murphy said Pow and defender Alex Donovan stepped up for his team.
"Pow's a leader of offense. He's constantly moving on the field," Murphy said. "Alex Donovan, a new defenseman who never played soccer before this year, played well for us tonight," Murphy said.

LENOX -- The Mount Greylock boys soccer team used a second half explosion to pick up its eighth win of the season, qualifying it for the Western Mass. tournament.
The Mounties' two ties give them 18 points, which is the number they needed to reach for Western Mass.
The two teams failed to score after the first 40 minutes of game time.
In the second half the Mounties scored three goals in seven minutes to drop the Millionaires. Grant Raphael fired home the final blow with 15 minutes left in the game for Greylock.
Lenox coach David Pugh said his team has to work on finishing out games.
"Both teams played quality soccer for the first 58 minutes of the game. Both teams showed good play and good sportsmanship," Pugh said. "We've got to work on finishing the last 20 and work on condition between now and the end of the season so we can play a full 80."
