SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- The Mount Greylock boys cross country team won the Burnt Hills Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
"It’s a big win for us," said Greylock coach Scott Burdick. "We’ve come in second or third a couple times, but the is the first time we came in first."
The Mountie girls finished third, but Greylock’s Emily Kaegi won the event.
In the boys’ race, Tommy Kirby was the top Greylock finisher, ninth, in a time of 16:39. Right behind him was Carter Stripp in 10th (16:53) and Sam Kobrin in 11th (16:55). Teammate Will Nolan was 17th in 17:16 and Jake Kobrin 18th in 17:30.
Greylock edged Greenwich, N.Y., scoring 53 points to Greenwich’s 65.
Kaegi continued her strong year, winning the girls’ race in 18:20. Laura Galib was 14th in 21:06, while Niku Darafshi was 18th in 21:15.
Greenwich won the event with 35 points. Plattsburgh (N.Y.) Seton Catholic was second with 44 points and the Mountie girls third with 75.
