CHESHIRE -- He hadn’t scored all season. Then Hoosac Valley’s Ben Trimarchi found himself in the right spot at the right time.
Ben Trimarchi was standing near midfield when Lenox keeper Trevor Hathaway cleared a ball away just outside the top of the box. Instead of looking for somewhere to pass, Trimarchi alertly one-timed the ball back from where it came, and it stood as the lone goal in the Hoosac Valley boys’ soccer team’s 1-0 win over Lenox on Saturday.
"We’re playing pretty good," Hoosac coach Camilo Bermudez said. "Defensively, we’re still sound. We play the counter-strike game, and it worked today."
Hathaway finished with five saves, while Colby Ells made eight for Hoosac.
The Hurricanes still sit atop the South standings with a pivotal game against Drury coming Oct. 25.

LONGMEADOW -- Down 2-0 at halftime, the Braves rallied briefly on an unassisted goal from Pat Boua. But the rally was brief.
"We came out with a littl life in the second half, and cut the lead to one," said Brave coach Mark wasnewsky. "But we had a little mixup on he back line and they scored again, and that seemed to deflate us a little."
Boua scored a second goal with a few minutes left in the game, assisted by Josh Berthiaume. Kevin Squires had five assists in net for the Braves, now 4-7-3.
