SPRINGFIELD -- Shane Fuller scored an unassisted goal with less than 13 minutes left in the game to give the McCann Tech a 3-2 win over Putnam, an unbeaten season and the championship of the North Division of the Tri-County League.
McCann finished 15-0-3. Coach Tom Bona, in his first year, did not know of previous undefeated MCann boys' teams.
"It's pretty amazing," he said. "They went way past my expectations. After the game, when we huddled up, I gave a very short speech: "Gentleman. Congratulations."
The Putnam game, said Bona, was very physical.
"They beat us up a little," he said. "But we controlled play."
Fuller picked off a pass and fired the ball in from close range for the game-winner.

LENOX -- The Spartans jumped out to a 2-0 lead, and held off the Millionaires for the win.
"Monument had some players out the last time we played them, and it's obvious they're at full strength now," said Lenox co-coach David Pugh. "But I thought we played pretty well. [Goalie] Trevor Hathaway did a great job of keeping us in the game."

WILLIAMSTOWN -- Eric Hirsch scored twice for Mount Greylock (10-3-4), as the Mounties grab a hold of a share of the North Division lead.
If Pittsfield beats Wahconah today, the Generals will claim the crown.
It was Senior Night in Williamstown and while Hirsch did most of the scoring, senior Dustin Chang got his first varsity goal in his final regular-season home game.
The Mounties got two clutch saves from Cal Filson with about 12 minutes left in the game, keeping the lead at two goals.
"That's encouraging that we're doing a good job on defense," Greylock coach Blair Dils said. "If you're going to win games in the tournament, you have to play that shutdown defense."

"They understand," Greylock coach John Albano said of what lies ahead for his team.
