NORTH ADAMS -- Another week, another award for MCLA women's soccer player Natalie Caney. No, make that two awards.
The freshman forward from Belchertown earned her fifth MASCAC rookie-of-the-week award and was also named co-player of the week. Caney shares that honor with Amanda Grant of Westfield State.
Caney scored three second-half goals in a four-goal half as MCLA rallied to beat Bridgewater State 4-1 on Friday. It was her third hat trick of the season.
Caney is tied for the conference lead with 16 goals, sharing that lead with Framingham State's Marisa Parent.
The Trailblazer standout is one goal shy of tying the freshman record of 17 goals, set by Roberta Smith in 1987.
BREWSTER -- MCLA's Taylor Dunn shot an 87 at the New England Intercollegiate Golf Association championships on Sunday.
The 36-hole tournament is being played at the Captains Course on Cape Cod. Padraig Dougherty shot 94.
Martin Mullin of Central Connecticut shot 2-under-par 70 to hold the lead among golfers from all three NCAA Divisions. The top Division III golfer is Patrick Donahue of Western New England, who shot 72.
