WILLIAMSTOWN -- The Williams College men’s basketball team survived a late rally to defeat Springfield College, 80-75.
Taylor Epley scored 20 points, while Duncan Robinson added nine rebounds and three assists to lead the winners, now 7-1. Springfield fell to 5-2.
Williams led 41-33, at halftime.
Williams women remain undefeated
WILLIAMSTOWN -- Le by Ellen Cook’s 14 points, the Williams women remained undefeated (8-0) with a 53-46 victory over Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon.
The visitors took a 21-19 lead into the locker room. Wesleyan held onto the lead until Cook’s three-pointer with 13:26 left tied the game at 31-31. Williams never trailed after that.
Oge Uwanaka led Williams with 13 rebounds.
MCLA men fall
NORTH ADAMS -- Despite Ruben Delrosario’s game-high 30 points, MCLA fell to St. Joseph’s College of Vermont 97-89 in the third-place game of the Tri-State Shootout.
MCLA(2-6) had a 31-21 lead midway through the first half, but saw the visitors (7-6) whittle it down to a 35-34 advantage for MCLA at halftime.
John Jones had a great game off the boards for the home team with 16 rebounds.
Williams men’s hockey wins
AMHERST -- Senior forward Matt Doyle punched in a third-period goal to give Willimas (5-0-2) a 1-0 win over rival Amherst (6-2-0) on Saturday. Greg Johnson was credited with the assist.
Sean Doughty had 14 saves in posting his first shutout of the year.
St. Anselm defeats Williams women
WILLIAMSTOWN -- Williams spotted visiting St. Anselm an early three-goal lead before falling 5-2.
The Ephs, now 3-4, got goals from Gabrielle Vukasin and Cristina Bravi.
St. Anselm led 3-1 at the end of the first period and 5-2 after two. Margaret Draper had 14 saves for Williams.
