GREAT BARRINGTON -- In what was the most competitive girls swim meet all season, Hoosac Valley rallied late for a 85-75 victory over Monument Mountain on Friday.

The Spartans were leading after the 500 free, but Hoosac roared back in the final four events. Their depth proved the difference.

Hoosac had Liz Bernardy and Julia Whitney qualify for states in the 100 breast, while Elizabeth Bartlett swam fast enough for Western Mass. in the event.

Ellie Field qualified for states in the 200 free for Hoosac.

For Monument, Maeve Wilber's time in both the 100 fly and 100 back were good enough to get her to states, while Caroline Bissailon qualified for states in the 100 free.

On the boys side, the Spartans' simply had more bodies to accumulate points in a 126-27 win. Brandon Louison is off to states in the 100 back for Monument, while Zach Richardson will be at Western Mass in the 50 free.

St. Joseph, Wahconah split

DALTON -- Jessie Tobin and Katie Nugai each won a pair of races as the St. Joseph girls won their second meet of the year, 92-68 over Wahconah.

The Warrior boys defeated the Crusaders 67-50.

Tobin won the 100 backstroke and the 50 freestyle and Nugai won the 100 free and the 100 breast stroke for St. Joseph. Michaela Defoe won the 200 individual medley and was second in the 100 back for Wahconah.

Kyle Miller led the Wahconah boys with first place finishes in the 200 free and the 100 butterfly.

Taconic, Taconic Hills split

CRARYVILLE, N.Y. -- George Sommerville and Quinton Cookis each recored a pair of wins as Taconic defeated Taconic Hills 102-52 on Friday.

The Taconic Hills girls won, 93-77.

Sommerville's wins came in the 100 free and the 100 backstroke. Cookis was a winner in the 200 and 500 free.

Gillian Campbell picked up wins in the 100 free and 100 backstroke for the Taconic girls.
