BELCHERTOWN -- The Pittsfield boys basketball team used a big first quarter to propel itself to a 78-64 win over former Western Massachusetts Division III champion Smith Academy in the championship game of the Belchertown Holiday Classic Sunday.

Pittsfield's 21-9 first quarter lead came courtesy of hot shooting from Bryce Daley and the transition attacking of Amancho Adopo. Daley finished with 16 points, hitting five 3-pointers. Adopo led all scorers with 22 along with 11 assists and 13 rebounds to record a triple-double. Adopo was named the most valuable player of the tournament.
