NORTH ADAMS -- Wahconah hockey coach Don Disbrow said his team was out-hustled during Monday's 5-2 loss to Chicopee Comp.
The score was tied after the first period, but three unanswered goals from Chicopee Comp sunk the Warriors.
Dan Flynn started the scoring for the Warriors two minutes into the game. After two consecutive goals from Comp, Hjalmar Gustafsson tied the score at two for Wahconah late in the first.
After that, it was all Comp. The Colts beat the Warriors to the puck, turning possessions into two goals in the second and one in the third.
"We took a couple of bad penalties and we stopped skating [after the first period]," Disbrow said. "We controlled a lot of the first period. We didn't dominate, but we had our chances. We had some good movement, but they beat us to all the loose pucks. You're not going to win many games if you don't go after loose pucks."
Housatonic Valley 5, Mount Everett 0
FALLS VILLAGE, Conn. -- Jason Diamond had a pair of goals to lead the host team over the Eagles.
"It was a close game for two periods," said Everett coach Aidan Gilligan. "They scored three goals on the power play, so that's a concern."
Saturday's hockey: St. Mary's 6, Mount Everett 2
WESTFIELD -- Luke Murphy and Aaron Norton scored second-period goals for the Eagles in the loss, a rematch of St. Mary's win earlier in December.
Sam Riva made 21 saves in net for Mount Everett, with Jonah Swotes stopping 17 shots.
"I was very pleased with the way our team came out in the third period and competed, but we just couldn't find the back of the net," Gilligan said in an email.
Adam Derwitsch and Matt DiSilva tallied assists for Mount Everett.
