GRANBY -- The Monument Mountain wrestling team improved to 11-0 with three wins in the Granby Duals on Saturday morning.

The Spartans beat Belchertown 66-12, host Granby 69-12 and Frontier Regional 60-24.

Double winners for Monument included Eli Jones at 113 pounds, Robert Kahlstrom at 126, Steve Cormier at 132, Sebastian Zapata at 138, Mike Molina at 160, Mark Leon-Duque at 170, Jonah Christianson at 182 and Jacob Hines at 220.

The match of the day, according to Monument coach Gordie Soule, was Nate Cormier's 7-6 win over Granby's Victor Magelher at 120. Magelher was up, 6-5, when Cormier scored a two-point reversal with less then five seconds to spare in the match.

SHEFFIELD -- The Eagles got pins from Isiah Reno at 113, Bradley Lupiani at 132, Nick Scapin at 145, Nick Turnbough at 182 and Matt Lane at heavyweight to take an easy win.

Reno's victory was his first as a varsity wrestler, according to Eagle coach Dave Lanoue.

Taconic is 1-2 at Sabis quads

SPRINGFIELD -- Taconic went 1-2 at the Sabis quad meet. The Braves defeated Hampshire Regional 42-36 and lost to Northampton 39-34 and Putnam, 51-34.

Nick Bailey at 126, Dylan Sickell at 145 and Josh Blonskey at 195 all went 3-0 for Taconic.

Girls basketball
Hopedale 47, Lee 39

HOPEDALE -- The Lee girls basketball team fell into an early hole on the road before losing to Central Mass. Hopedale, 49-37.

The Blue Raiders (4-5) jumped out to a 15-6 first-quarter lead, and the Wildcats, now 2-2, struggled to catch up.

Nikki Laudon led Lee with 15. Lea Hyland had a game-high 16 for Hopedale.

Miss Hall's 44, Millbrook 22

MILLBROOK, Conn. -- Grace Guachione had 19 points and 13 steals to lead the Hurricanes. Sarah Wilson had 13 points and 10 rebounds for the Hurricanes.

"It was our first game back from break, so I was pleased with our defensive effort, holding Millbrook to 14 points in the first half and 22 points overall," said Hurricane coach Matt Ward.

Minnechaug 6, Wahconah 0

WILBRAHAM -- Dominic Salbo had a hat trick in the first period and Anthony Piteo had five assists as Minnechaug defeated Wahconah (3-4).

The home team outshot the Warriors 33-19. Wahconah's Nico Romano had 27 saves.
