GREAT BARRINGTON -- The Monument Mountain wrestling team checked the undefeated Berkshire County season off its "to-do" list Thursday night, beating Mount Everett, 46-17.

There’s no rest for the weary as the Spartans head to Wakefield on Saturday for the state dual meet tournament.

"We’re peaking at the right time," Monument coach Gordie Soule said. "I think we’re fit. I think we are executing our technique well."

The Spartans will open against Hanover in the 16-team tournament.

But getting back to Thursday, the Spartans got started when Eli Jones beat Anthony Lupiani in a major decision at 106 pounds. Monument won four bouts by pin: Nate Cormier at 120, Sebastian Zapata at 138, Mike Molina at 152 and Terrence Powell at 195. Everett’s Nick Turnbough won by pin at 182.

Everett’s Bradley Lupiani beat Robert Kahlstrom by a technical fall at 126.

Mount Greylock 54, Taconic 21

PITTSFIELD -- Visiting Greylock (27-5) won five of the nine contested bouts as the Mounties prepare for this weekend’s state dual meet tournament and the upcoming Western Mass. tourney.

"We’re trying to hang on," said Greylock coach Ray Miro. "We’re a young team this year."

In the battle at 160, it took Mount Greylock’s David O’Brien almost the entire bout to pin Taconic’s Jordan Knowlton. O’Brien got the pin in 5 minutes, 25 seconds.

NORTH ADAMS -- Emily Moulton scored six of her team-high 12 points in the fourth quarter as the Blue Devils pulled away from visiting Lee.

"Lee won the first three quarters. They had more energy," said Drury coach Jay Meehan. "We only won the fourth quarter. They ran out of gas a little bit. We’ll take the win."

Alyssa Kelly had a game-high 13 points for Lee and Nikki Laudon chipped in with 11.
