WEST SPRINGFIELD 31, WAHCONAH 28
In Dalton, the Wahconah football team ended its season with a 31-28 loss to West Springfield.
Wahconah fell behind early, 7-0, but rallied to go up 14-7 into halftime and then 20-7 to start the third on a short run by Evan Garvey.
That, though, is when things started going awry.
West Side responded to Garvey's touchdown with a 65-yard effort from Anthony Costa, and after the two-point try it was 20-15 Wahconah.
West Side then put up another touchdown on the next Wahconah series, as Cameron Paier picked off Will Genaway and took the ball back 60 yards for the score. West Side's final touchdown came with 6:46 to go in the third when Costa hit William McQuade to put the Terriers up 31-20.
Wahconah tacked on one more score a minute into the fourth when Matt Salvatore scored on a 12-yard run, but the Warriors couldn't get another score to take the lead.
With a minute to go, Wahconah nearly took the lead when Genaway connected with Garvey on an 85-yard toss, but the play was called back due to holding.
Genaway tossed for both Wahconah touchdowns in the first half, the first to Cole Morrison and the second to Tyler Cataldi.
The Warriors finish at 5-5.
