WILLIAMSTOWN >> Williams College scored on the game's first shot on goal, and Noah Klag did the rest Friday night, to put the Ephs into first place in NESCAC.

Klag made 20 saves for his second shutout while Zander Masucci had a goal and an assist in a 4-0 win for 10th-ranked Williams over Tufts.

The Ephs (2-4-1, 8-2-1 in NESCAC) scored just 2:45 into the first period when Masucci set up Luke Stickel for his first goal of the season.

Williams led 2-0 after one period and scored twice in the second period against Tufts (6-7-4, 2-6-3).

With the win, the Ephs are now a point ahead of 8-2-0 Trinity in the standings. The Bantams host Hamilton today and Amherst on Sunday. Williams will host Connecticut College this afternoon.

The Ephs had 33 shots against Tufts goalie Mason Pulde, the younger brother of former Williams goalie Marc Pulde.


AMHERST >> Five different Amherst players scored goals as Williams had its four-game winning streak stopped at Orr Rink.

Amherst goalie Sabrina Dobbins stopped all 34 shots she faced. Williams goalie Margaret Draper made 24 saves.

Alex Toupal had the first Amherst goal, and got credit for the game winner. Toupal also had an assist.
