HOLYOKE >> The Lenox girls basketball moved the ball well, leading to a season-high 15 assists and a 54-25 win over Pope Francis on Saturday.

Lenox (5-14) jumped out to a 30-12 lead at halftime and used its defense and rebounding to maintain the advantage.

Jackie Hathaway led the way with 16 points.

"We played well and got a lot of people involved," Lenox coach Mike Nykorchuck said. "We passed the ball well. The defense was solid and we rebounded well today. Good solid win."

AMHERST >> Grayson Duval, Brendan Dempsey and Jake Corcoran each scored for Mount Everett, but the Eagles fell to Amherst.

Max Joyner added two assists for Mount Everett (2-11-3) while Charlie Grace and Matt DiSilva also chipped in one assist apiece. Goalie Jonah Swotes finished with 29 saves for Mount Everett.

"This was a tough two game stretch for us against Wahconah on Thursday and then Amherst today," Mount Everett coach Aidan Gilligan said in an email. "They will probably the first two seeds in the Western Mass. Tournament.

"Coach Rousseau has done a great job since taking over the Amherst team. They are very fundamentally sound and do a good job of puck control and regrouping in the neutral zone. I was glad that our team bounced back in the third and showed some fight."

Amherst jumped out to a 5-0 lead through one period and extended that advantage to 6-0 through two. The Hurricanes had seven different goalscorers overall, while Jake Balderston had an assist to go with his goal.

Brandon Feldman and Jake Riel each registered two assists for Amherst while goalie Jim Mozel recorded 19 saves.
