CLERMONT, FLA. >> The Williams softball team swept its first two games of the season as it defeated Wellesley, 7-6, and Oswego State by a score of 2-0.
The Ephs (2-0) fell behind by six runs through two innings against Wellesley (1-1), but scored six of their own in the bottom of the fifth before a walkoff single from Erica Li to score Alejandra Magana won it.
Li finished 3 for 5 while Lexi Curt and Brenna Martinez each registered two hits for the Ephs. Jessica Kim had two RBI for Williams.
Ashtyn Coleman and Anna Pisac each hit a home run for Wellesley.
In the second game, Mackenzie Murphy pitched a four-hit shutout, striking out six and walking two as Williams held off Oswego State (0-1).
Williams only mustered five hits against Oswego pitcher Brittney Sears, but the Ephs scored in the third inning and picked up an insurance run in the sixth.
Alison Michalik and Priscilla Pino each recorded an RBI for Williams.
The Ephs are back in action on Monday when they face Whitworth and Eastern Connecticut State in a doublheader at Clermont, Fla.
MCLA WOMEN'S LACROSSE LOSES FLORIDA FINALE
CLERMONT, FLA. >> The MCLA women's lacrosse team lost its final of two Florida games as Eastern Connecticut State beat the Trailblazers, 15-4.
Eastern Connecticut (5-4) dominated the first half, outscoring MCLA (0-2) by a score of 15-1. Taylor Brewer, Tanelle Ciempa, Mackenzie Cutler and Rachel Green each scored for the Trailblazers.
For Eastern Connecticut, Katie Burke and Amanda Will each recorded a hat trick.
MCLA returns to action on Wednesday at home against Sage.
