NORTH ADAMS >> The last time the MCLA baseball team won a game, it was sunny and in the 70s. Of course, that was in Florida.

With sunny skies and temperatures around 70 at Joe Wolfe Field, the Trailblazers ended an 0-for-New England skid with a 10-3 win over Elms on Thursday afternoon. MCLA had lost 12 straight games and hadn't won since beating Utica on March 18.

The Trailblazers improved to 4-18,

Nate Alibozek picked up the win by pitching five innings and giving up three runs on eight hits. Robert Jutras, Todd Hunt and Eamonn Andre combined to pitch four innings of shutout relief.

Liam Nolan put the Trailblazers up for keeps with a two-run home run in the bottom of the first inning. Nate Gutmann hit a one-out single to right, and then Nolan cleared the fence in left. Slayter Aubin made it 4-0 with a two-run single and he scored on Nick DiSanti's base hit.

The Trailblazers pounded out 17 hits, 15 against Elms starter Anthony Palumbo. Andrew Casteel had three hits for MCLA, while six other players had two hits each. Nolan had two hits and four runs batted in.


WILLIAMSTOWN >> The Williams College softball team is currently ranked No. 2 in New England in the first NCAA Division III regional rankings.


MIT (23-5) is the No 1 team in New England, followed by Williams (22-7), Tufts (17-6), WPI (25-5) and Amherst (17-5).

Williams has a three-game series with Amherst this weekend. The teams play today at 5 p.m. at Cole Field, and will play a doubleheader on Saturday in Amherst at noon.


MINNEAPOLIS >> Zander Masucci's trophy shelf is getting a little crowded.

The Williams defenseman was named to the men's All-East first team. The senior was the only NESCAC player named to one of's three teams.

The rest of the first team includes Babson goalie Jamie Murphy, defenseman Tyler Bishop of UMass-Boston, and at forward, Stephen Collins of SUNY-Geneseo, Matt Lemire of UMass-Boston and Brad Robbins of Hobart.


INDIANAPOLIS >> Both Williams College golf teams are No. 1 in their respective regions in the first NCAA Division III regional rankings.

The Williams men are No. 1 in the East Region. NYU is second, followed by Bridgewater (Va.), Huntington and Washington and Lee.

The women have six regions to five for the men, so Williams is in the Northeast. The Eph women are No. 1 in that region with Skidmore, RPI, Trinity and Rochester rounding out the top five.
