WILLIAMSTOWN — The Williams women's tennis team continued on its path to defend its NCAA Division III title.

The Ephs took down MIT 5-1 to win the NCAA Division III Williamstown Regional on Sunday afternoon.

The Ephs now advance to the NCAA quarterfinals, held at Stowe Stadium in Kalamazoo, Mich. on May 23. Stowe Stadium will also host the semifinals and finals, should Williams advance, May 24-25.

Williams won the match behind the strength of its doubles teams, which swept the Engineers. The second doubles team of Julia Cancio and Hannah Atkinson defeated Dora Tzeng and Kelly Zhu, 8-1, to secure the first win. Maya Hart and Giulia McDonnell won 8-1 at third doubles, and the first doubles team of Juli Raventos and Linda Shin held off Elysa Kohrs and Sonya Das, 9-7.

In singles action, Dora Tzeng topped Williams' Mia Gancayco for MIT's lone win on the day, 6-3, 6-2. Shin won her third singles match against Kelly Zhu, 7-5, 6-1, and Cancio won at fourth singles over Sonya Das, 6-1, 5-7, 6-2.
