PITTSFIELD — Pittsfield has the Central-Western Massachusetts Division II tournament in its sights, and is looking for a higher seed than last year's No. 16 in a 16-team field.
The Generals may have helped their cause somewhat on Monday afternoon, breaking open a one-goal game against Belchertown and routing the Orioles 15-2.
Belchertown, a Division III bubble team entering the game, might have had its bubble burst when Pittsfield broke open a 2-1 game by outscoring the Orioles 6-0 in the second quarter.
"We controlled the midfield. They all played pretty well," said PHS coach Scott Aitken. "The offense controlled the game and the defense did a nice job shutting them down."
Kevin Quinto led Pittsfield with a four-goal, five-assist day, while Ryan Jacoby had three goals and three assists.

WILLIAMSTOWN >> The Mounties celebrated Senior Night with a win that improved their county record to 10-0. Greylock is 15-1 overall, while Monument falls to 9-7 and 4-6.
Greylock led 9-1 after one quarter, and the Mounties scored 10 more in the second quarter.
Patrick Storie had 5 goals and an assist to lead Greylock, while Michael Wellspeak had three goals and two assists. Matt DiSilva had the lone goal for Monument.

The Hurricanes (9-7) had eight different players score in the win, with Nick Waterman leading the way with five goals and one assist. Brendon Ellsworth added a pair of goals and a pair of assists, and Tyler Jayko had a hat trick.
Cam Alibozek stopped four shots in the win. St. Mary's was led by Matt Wurster, who scored a game-high seven goals.

CHESHIRE >> The Pittsfield girls lacrosse team picked up its first win in the Berkshire County league with a decision over Hoosac Valley on Monday.
The Generals (4-12, 1-11) got six goals from Clare Sheedy and five from Lauren Curry to snatch the win. PHS led 7-6 at halftime.
"It was a back and forth game the entire game," Hoosac coach Molly Meczywor said in an email. "Both teams played well and fought hard. This was our third game with them and each time the score was 14-13. Even teams on offense and defense."
Claudia Bresett and Alie Mendel each had five goals in the loss for Hoosac (6-8, 4-8).
In goal, Kristen Borelli stopped four shots in the win while Abi Disbrow had seven in the loss.

The Wildcats (13-2) swept the two doubles matches en route to victory.
"This was a great win because they had the 43-game win streak," Lee coach Norma Comalli said.
