WILLIAMSTOWN — After playing to a scoreless first half, the Pittsfield and Mount Greylock teams found their shooting boots in the second. Ultimately, it was the foot of Pittsfield's Jackson Rich that made the difference in a 3-2 win for the Generals.
There were three lead changes in the second half. First, Greylock went up 1-0 when Aaron Kleiner scored in the 52nd minute. Pittsfield, though, responded with two goals in a four-minute span as Max Tabakin and Adrian Riva found the back of the net.
But Greylock was determined to not go away, and one minute after Riva's goal Tyler Marten tied the game up at 2-2 in the 69th minute.
With the game potentially heading for a tie, Rich stepped up to secure the win. On a cross from Christian Mendes, Rich controlled the ball in the box and maintained possession in a tight pocket of space to record the winner in the 76th minute.
"We came right back and tied it up, then they just got a nice goal at the end," Greylock coach Blair Dils said.
Dils was disappointed his team could not capitalize on its shot advantage.
"Unfortunately, we outshot them 18-6," he said. "It's one that got away, that's for sure. Give credit to Pittsfield for capitalizing on their opportunities."
Pittsfield moves to 3-0-1 overall and 3-0-0 in the Berkshire North. Greylock falls to 1-1-1 and 1-1-0.
