LONGMEADOW >> The Pittsfield volleyball team (9-2) went a long way and played a long time — but came home with a big win on Wednesday.

The Generals rallied from down two sets to one to beat host Longmeadow 18-25, 25-22, 12-25, 28-26, 15-12.

"It was just great volleyball all night long," Pittsfield coach Brian Lawton said.

The Generals found themselves one set from a loss after dropping a 12-25 third set to the Lancers.

"We just talked about being confident with our process," said Lawton, "We didn't pass the ball well at all in the third."

That all changed in the fourth, as PHS went overtime to win 28-26, and when Alyssa Puntin served an ace for the final point, the Generals had the victory.

Riley Nichols was a catalyst for the offense, recording 26 assists for PHS. Katara Mullett had five kills, seven digs, and seven aces, while Nicole LaPierre had eight kills and three aces.


WILLIAMSTOWN >> Mount Greylock (8-2, 6-1, North Division) took three sets to beat Taconic (4-6, 4-5 South). The scores were 25-13, 25-10, 25-16.

For the Mounties, Dagny Albano had four aces and a match-high 14 assists, while Serena Chow had four kills and four aces and Madison Albert had three aces and three kills.

For Taconic, Maddy Quinto had four digs, two kills, a block and an ace, while Dea Alston had two digs and a kill.



SHEFFIELD >> Anna Wang registered seven aces and six digs for Lee in its win over Mount Everett on Tuesday. The scores were 25-10, 25-9, 25-12.

Haleigh Richardson had six kills and four aces for the Wildcats (12-1, 7-1 Berkshire North) while Shenna Tyer recorded five kills and two assists. Also for Lee, Kendra Williams had 22 assists.

For Mount Everett (1-8, 1-7 Berkshire South), Chandler DeGrenier had three assists, two kills and an ace while Kayla Krom registered two kills, two blocks and an ace.

NORTH ADAMS >> Reece Racette made sure Drury's undefeated season would continue at least one more day.

Racette broke open a one-goal game with a pair of second-half tallies as the Blue Devils (11-0-1, 4-0-1 South Division) beat Taconic (2-7-1, 1-4 South) on Wednesday afternoon.

The Blue Devils led 1-0 at halftime before Racette scored in the 52nd minute and then made it 3-0 on a goal in the 51st minute.

Brian Christian had six saves for Drury, but lost his shutout on a goal by Nick Donahue in the 80th minute.

PITTSFIELD >> At Kirvin Park, Jackson Rich scored twice in the second half to break a 1-1 tie and give Pittsfield (7-1-2, 4-0-1 North) the win over Monument Mountain (3-5-1, 1-4 North).

Grady Pederson had scored at 24:26, tying the contest at 1-all. Just 5:45 into the second half, Rich scored off an assist from Max Tabakin. Ten minutes later, Pederson set up Rich for the insurance goal.

CHESHIRE >> Mount Everett's Dan Litchfield broke a scoreless tie by scoring twice in less than two minutes early in the first half as the Eagles (9-2-0, 4-1 Berkshire South) defeated Hoosac Valley (2-6-1, 2-2-1).

Litchfield scored his first goal at 7:56 and made it 2-0 at 9:30.

"We weren't alert in the first 10 minutes and they were," Hoosac coach Mike Russo said. 'In the second half, we played better but couldn't capitalize."

WILLIAMSTOWN >> Madison Ross scored twice and added an assist for Mount Greylock in its rout of Taconic.

Caroline Flynn scored and added two assists for the Mounties (5-5-1). Among the Greylock goalscorers was Gabby Berry, who scored her first career varsity goal in the 60th minute.

"In our last five games we're 4-0-1," Mount Greylock coach Tom Ostheimer said. "As a coach, I'm very impressed with the fact that we had seven different players score goals today. We spread the ball around and got offense from a lot of different players."

Jackie Boateng recorded eight saves for Taconic (4-7).

ADAMS >> Make it two straight wins for the Hoosac Valley golf team (7-4, 7-4 North Division).

While Wahconah's Nate Dos Santos was medalist at Forest Park with a 4-over-par 38, three of Hoosac's four scoring golfers had results between 38 and 42, which is where Jon Dos Santos and Noah Bracci scored for Wahconah (7-4, 7-4). Henry Sniezek led the way for the Hurricanes with a 39.

"We knew it was going to be a tough match," Hoosac coach Jay Sniezek said. "I knew if we could shoot in the low 160s, we would have a shot at beating them. We knew we had to shoot low and they came through."

PITTSFIELD >> At the Country Club of Pittsfield, the Generals' Justin Martin was medalist as PHS (9-3, 7-3 North) beat visiting Monument Mountain (4-7, 4-7 South).

Martin shot a 5-over 40 on the Country Club's front nine and scored a birdie on the fifth hole.

"We've been playing pretty good golf," Pittsfield coach Chris Polidoro said. "Kevin [Quinto] struggled [with a 44] and we still won. I'm looking forward to Western Mass."
