GREAT BARRINGTON — The Monument Mountain (5-8, 5-8 Berkshire South) golf team kept its Western Mass. tournament hopes alive with its 180-183 win over Lenox (6-7, 6-7).
Lenox's Matt Shields led all scorers with a 41. The back end of the Spartans lineup allowed them to squeak out the win. Matthew Iemolini and Dylan Tinker shot 46 and 44 at the No. 5 and 6 spots, respectively.
The win moves them to the Spartans to 5-8 overall. They need to defeat St. Joseph tonight to move into second place in the South and clinch a spot in the tournament.
"The last group of Matt and Dylan really won it for us," Coach Rick Iemolini said. "180 is our best total of the season. ... They all stepped up and I'm very happy about it."

PITTSFIELD >> Agawam left Berkshire Hills Country Club with a win, handing Taconic a defeat in its final match of the regular season.
Mateo Godek edged out Mike Kays (38) for medalist honors with a 37. Alia Godek had the second lowest score with a 40.
"We play them every year and most of the kids on the team know the course pretty well," Taconic coach Mike Hillman said. "It's our last match of the year. Wasn't our best round. Hopefully we'll turn things around in the Western Mass. tournament."

Serena Chow led the Mounties (13-2, 11-1 Berkshire North) with four kills. Dagny Albano had 10 assists and Jenna Benzinger had seven kills.
Chaze Filippi led the Crusaders (1-11, 0-9 South) with two aces, two kills and four digs. Emily Hamilton two kills and four digs. Sarah Squires one ace and four digs.
"The first game was back and fourth," St. Joe coach Peter Strack said. "We were digging up balls and had a lot of vollies. But we were having problems with their middle hitter. Other than that we were play well defensively."
LEE 3, LENOX 0
LENOX >> Lee improved to 15-1 with its sweep of South Division leading Lenox.
The Wildcats won 25-14, 25-17 and 25-23.
Haleigh Richardson led Lee with six kills. Kendra Williams had 19 assists. Shenna Tyer had four kills and Anna Wang had nine digs.
Riley Burke led Lenox (9-3) with four kills and five digs, Brianna Hazl had two kills and three blocks, Kasey Vallee had three aces, one kill and nine digs. Anna Lynch had two kills and five digs.
"They returned the ball very well. Everybody was getting back in the system quickly," Lenox coach Bessena Cabe said. "Our team put up a great fight. The last set was about seeing would make less errors."
MONUMENT MOUNTAIN 3, MOUNT ANTHONY 1
BENNINGTON, VT. >> Monument Mountain defeated Mount Anthony 25-19, 23-25, 25-21, 25-16.
Monument is 4-7 overall and 4-7 in the Berkshire South. Mount Anthony is 1-10, 1-10 Berkshire North.
FALMOUTH >> The Lenox girls finished fourth at the Bob McIntyre Twilight Cross-Country Invitational Meet Division II race on Sunday morning.
The Millionaires had 178 points while Milton won with 29 points. Lenox's Emma Jourdain was sixth overall with a time of 18:38.32. Alice Najimy was 26th and Ellen Huth was 27th.
Alice Huth was 74th, Hani Chung was 78th, Kate McNinch was 81st and Peggy Yee was 114th.
