EGREMONT --Two south Berkshire County teenagers were arrested and charged on Wednesday night at a North Egremont park for possession of drugs, including cocaine, with the intent to distribute, according to Egremont police.

Nathan Lopes, of Housatonic, and Michael Consolini, of Sheffield were charged for alleged possession of marijuana and cocaine with the intent to the distribute after Egremont Police discovered the pair in a parked car at French Park around 10:30 p.m. after the park had closed.

The 19-year-olds were also charged with trespassing and possession of bath salts and three Psilocybin, commonly known as mushrooms, according to Egremont Police Department Interim Officer in Charge Jeremy Pilone.

Lopes was charged with assault and battery of an officer and resisting arrest after he tried to flee the police department building.

Both males were under the influence at the time of the arrest, Pilone said.

Pilone estimated they were in possession of 16 grams of cocaine, one ounce of marijuana, three Psilocybin, commonly known as mushrooms, and bath salts.

"It just goes to show no town or any area is immune to [drugs]," Pilone said.

The combination of charges carries a maximum possible penalty of 10 to 15 years, Pilone said.

Pilone said information has been provided to surrounding agencies for further investigation.
