ADAMS -- A 38-year-old Adams man was arrested early Saturday morning for allegedly assaulting and kidnapping his wife after she came home around 4 a.m., according to Adams police.

David Faria was arrested on nine charges at his residence on Allen Street by police after he allegedly kidnapped his wife by knifepoint after she arrived at her residence, on Myrtle Street, in the early morning hours.

According to the police report, Faria rushed his wife after concealing himself behind her building and then pushed her against a car at knifepoint.

He proceeded to force her into his car where he assaulted her, then drove her back to his residence.

His wife was strangled, pushed around and bitten, police said.

Police were contacted around 5:45 a.m. after the woman was let go after being held against her will.

Faria is charged with attempted murder, kidnapping, assault, intimidation of a witness, battery, and additional assault-related offenses.

He is being held on $50,000 bail at Adams Police Department.
