To the editor of THE EAGLE:
I saw "Lee Daniels' ‘The Butler'" last week and Woody Allen's "Blue Jasmine" is on my schedule for this week. It looks like the Oscar contenders are starting.
Once you stop identifying the actors -- (spoiler, The Reagans are Alan Rickman and Jane Fonda) -- "The Butler" is a thought-provoking film. Daniels, the director, has made good additions to a true story and included actual clips that remind us of civil rights events that we might have forgotten.
The audience applauded at the end but I walked away with the feeling that we still have a ways to go. NANCY F. NIRENBERG
