NORTH ADAMS -- Authorities from the North Adams and state police departments are working together to investigate the cause of a fatal motor vehicle accident early Wednesday morning.
North Adams Police Sgt. James Burdick said that at approximately 1:15 a.m., police responded to a one-car accident on West Main Street in the vicinity of Goodrich Street. The vehicle struck and damaged a utility pole.
Two people, a man and a woman, were involved in the accident. Burdick said one person died as a result of the crash. The other person was injured and transported to Berkshire Medical Center for treatment. Police are not releasing the identities of the accident victims as of Wednesday morning.
Burdick said the North Adams Police Department is working with members of the Massachusetts State Police accident reconstruction unit to investigate the cause of this incident.
