PITTSFIELD -- A local restaurant owner's health is improving as he recovers from serious injuries suffered in a motorcycle crash late last week.
J. Joseph Breault on Wednesday afternoon was upgraded to fair condition in the critical care unit at Baystate Medical Center, according to officials at the Springfield hospital.
The 58-year-old proprietor of Jimmy's Restaurant in Pittsfield went from serious to critical condition over the weekend after he arrived late Friday night with a collapsed lung and broken leg.
Police say Breault was riding his 1992 Harley-Davidson westbound on Merrill Road just past the Junction Road bridge when the motorcycle's front tire hit a curb. The impact threw the city man from his vehicle.
The crash remains under investigation.
