To the editor of THE EAGLE:

During campaign season, the city is besieged by endless politicking. We hear our elected officials tell how they are going to spend our tax dollars effectively and represent our needs as if they were their own. Sound familiar?

Well, I was raised in a working class neighborhood and was taught that good leadership is only accomplished by hard work, the asking of tough questions, and by expecting honest answers. I respect leaders who see an issue that needs to be aired and are not afraid to separate themselves from the herd to truly represent their constituents.

I have seen this commitment in [Ward 1 City Councilor] Christine Yon. She finds consensus when it serves the greater good of her ward. I don’t want rubber-stamp leadership and I don’t see that in Councilor Yon.
