To the editor of THE EAGLE:
I am writing a letter out of interest about a paranormal event told to me by my grandmother, a former Williamstown native. The experience occurred somewhere between 1918-1921 as my grandmother, her mother and younger sister were walking along the Williams College campus and witnessed what appeared to be a well-dressed man coming toward them at a whirlwind pace and instantly vanishing into the air.
In my research, I came across the tragic death of Williams College alumnus Charles White Whittlesey who went missing in 1921 as it was presumed that he committed suicide at sea. I am eager to learn of any reported ghostly sightings related to Charles White Whittlesey or any other men that might fit the profile of the Williams College campus encounter experienced by my grandmother some 90-plus years ago.
