PITTSFIELD -- Friends and coworkers hope to assist a family recently affected by a tragic motor vehicle accident with a dinner in the city this afternoon.

Money raised at the benefit, a spaghetti dinner and raffle at the Gladys Allen Brigham Community Center, will go toward the family of Jill Marion, an employee of the center.

In July, two of Marion's daughters and her mother were riding in a car that was struck by a tractor-trailer while coming off Exit 16 from Interstate 91 in Holyoke.

Marion's mother, 66-year-old Suzanne Robbins of Hinsdale, was killed and her 15-year-old daughter Savannah Marion suffered serious brain trauma. The older of the daughters, Taylor, 17, suffered minor injuries. Savannah remains in need of additional surgeries and rehabilitation.

Vicky Palardy, early childhood director at the center, said the Marions -- including Savannah, who recently returned home from a rehab center in Boston -- will attend the event.

Palardy said the 12-person staff at the center has collected donations from businesses and individuals all over the county since the accident.

"We're like a family here," she said. "We just want to help out as best as we can."

Some contributors include Berkshire Place, which formerly employed Robbins, the Norman Rockwell Museum, photographer Susan Gellar, The Locker Room Sports Pub and many more.

Palardy said Savannah was "very active" in programming for young girls and the teen outreach program prior to the accident.

"She's a good kid. Very bright," Palardy said. "We're all hoping she gets better."
