NORTH ADAMS -- Police are considering the death of an elderly woman at her Walker Street home to be a homicide and are continuing to investigate.
An autopsy to determine the exact cause of death of 84-year-old Ellen Depaoli is scheduled to be conducted on Thursday by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Boston.
According to the Berkshire District Attorney's Office, the North Adams Police Department responded to a 911 call Tuesday night at 8 p.m. reporting Depaoli's death. Police found the woman's body in her residence at 409 Walker St.
North Adams police, state police detectives assigned to the district attorney's office and members of the Berkshire County Law Enforcement Task Force are continuing Wednesday to investigate the circumstances surrounding the woman's death and to look for suspects.
