PITTSFIELD -- Rose Mary Cimini, a longtime Pittsfield resident, turns 100 years old today.
Born on Sept. 21, 1913, Mrs. Cimini will celebrate her birthday with a party at Laurel Lake Assisted Living in Lee, her home for the last few years.
A week earlier, she was honored at a family dinner at Zucchini's Restaurant in Pittsfield.
This dinner was 23 years after her mother, the late Angelina Cimini, celebrated her 100th birthday at the restaurant, which was then known as Giovanni's. Rose Mary Cimini said the marinara sauce is still just as good as it was in 1990.
In attendance was her sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and great grandnieces and great grandnephews. Also in attendance was a magician and Rose's close friend and piano player, Mary M. Masiero.
Mrs. Cimini grew up in the Fenn and Fourth street area of Pittsfield and lived with her mother and father.
In the late 1980s, she and her mother moved to Central Avenue in Pittsfield and enjoyed the Senior Center on weekdays.
