To the editor of THE EAGLE:
Throughout my teen and adult years I have been involved in politics on and off due to my parents’ influence, especially my mother, Gilda. Over the past 10 or 15 years I have not been as involved. I would vote and have my opinions, but did not volunteer for any campaigns.
Then Rick Latura told me he was running for Ward 3 City Council. I was impressed by his no-nonsense approach to politics and his willingness to get his hands dirty to get things done. It is about time someone truly cared and wanted to get not only his ward, but this city back to what it used to be.
He understands the only way to do this is to start by making the city safe. He has met with several different department heads, including the chief of police and the Department of Public Works, to discuss how this can be accomplished. That in itself is impressive to me. He is not even in office yet and things have been getting done. That to me is a true public servant, not just a politician who says all the right things.
