PITTSFIELD -- A New York woman escaped serious injury on Tuesday when her SUV was struck by another SUV and rolled over near Park Square.
Nancy Dellea, of Hillsdale, was traveling west on East Street in her 2012 Toyota Rav 4 around noon when she pulled out of traffic stopped at a red signal and attempted to merge onto South Street, according to Pittsfield police.
When she turned onto South Street, she pulled in front of a eastbound 2008 Lincoln MKX, which struck her vehicle's passenger side, causing it to roll over before bouncing back upright and coming to a halt.
Dellea was transported to Berkshire Medical Center, where she was treated for minor injuries and released.
The driver of the second vehicle, Holly Desantis, of New Ashford, was not injured.
Dellea's car suffered "extensive damage" and was towed from the scene, according to Officer Marc Maddalena of the Pittsfield Police Department.
Police closed part of Park Square for roughly an hour while removing the wreckage and investigating the accident. They spoke to a number of witnesses who corroborated the events.
Maddalena said multiple officers investigated the accident and their findings will determine whether any citations are given as a result of the crash.
