PITTSFIELD -- Some wicked weather comes this way today.
National Weather Service has listed a severe thunderstorm warning for Southern and Northern Berkshire County, effective until 4:30 p.m.
A tornado watch is also in effect until 5 p.m. for Berkshire County, nearby Bennington County in Vermont and surrounding counties in New York state.
The same area is under flood advisory until 6:30 p.m., as heavy rains continue to move through the region. If flooding does occur, authorities advise people not to drive through water-covered roadways, as vehicles could get stuck in or damaged by the water.
A wind advisory also remains in effect until 8 tonight. People secure loose objects in their yards, such as trash cans, tools and toys. If you are traveling, keep a firm grip on the steering wheel and watch out for any flying or falling debris from trees or power lines that may be damaged by the force of the storm.
The forecast for this evening includes a 90 percent chance of rain showers and severe thunderstorms, with a south wind around 26 mph, and wind gusts as high as 55 mph.
Rain will continue into the evening, as temperatures dip as low as 44 degrees.
The outlook for Tuesday is mostly sunny, with a high near 61.
