To the editor of THE EAGLE:
On Friday morning the Pittsfield Garden Tour installed a 14-foot bronze sculpture by Carol Gold on the Common which it is donating to the city of Pittsfield. This sculpture will be unveiled and dedicated in a ceremony on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 3 p.m.
This was a complicated process and needed a good deal of assistance in coordinating the installation of such a valuable and large sculpture. This piece of art came to Pittsfield from Loveland, Colorado and it took a fair amount of skill to get it to arrive right on time when all the workers were in place to install it.
Jim McGrath, the park, open space, and natural resources program manager for the city, was truly remarkable in his assistance in every aspect of this project, which began some two years ago. Jim was always available, gracious, and willing to find the way to make it all work easily. Whatever he is being paid is not enough! Two of his colleagues, Charlie Stracuzzi and Pete Sondrini, were terrific in their willingness to help us work out the many logistics it takes with such a project even though it was a difficult squeeze on their time.
The Pittsfield Garden Tour Committee is truly grateful to Jim, Charlie and Pete. ANNE W. PASKO
