PITTSFIELD -- A 23-year-old Pittsfield man is being held by the Pittsfield Police Department after he allegedly shoved his pregnant girlfriend, spat in her face and was found to have cocaine.
Jason Daines' girlfriend called police on Friday to report the Oct. 8 alteraction. She alleged that he spit in her face after an argument and pushed her while knowing she was pregnant.
Deienes led police on a brief foot chase after they went to a Dewey Avenue residence to arrest him, according to police.
He was charged with two felony counts of aggravated assault and battery. The charges were elevated to aggravated since the victim was pregnant.
The woman obtained an emergency order of protection against him.
After being booked on the assault and battery charges, police said he was found to have a cellophane wrapper with cocaine in his possession.
Police charged him with class B misdemeanor possession of crack cocaine, also a felony, Sgt. Matthew Hill said.
Deines was also wanted on a separate unrelated warrant, Hill said.
He is being held at the Berkshire County Jail & House of Correction without bail while he awaits an arraignment.
