To the editor of THE EAGLE:
Recently, a dear friend in her 90s and of some prominence in South County passed away, leaving her long-time feline companion orphaned. Despite her having provided handsomely for her companion, he was surrendered to a local veterinary hospital. Being elderly and with a condition requiring ongoing health care, his prospects appeared grim.
Fortunately, a loyal friend heard of this tragedy and adopted him without hesitation. Now, once again in a safe and loving home, this little fellow will live out his remaining years in quiet comfort.
I wish to encourage readers who are guardians of their loving companions to plan carefully, choose wisely, and be sure that there are sufficient options in your estate planning so that your companions may live out their lives in a safe and loving environment.
