To the editor of THE EAGLE:
I would like to ask people in Pittsfield's Ward 3 to consider voting for Richard Latura for City Council. His slogan of "Make our neighborhoods safe and the city will follow" really makes sense to me. I have spoken with him at length about his ideas and they are very practical, not only for our ward, but for the city as a whole.
Mr. Latura is a property owner and has raised his daughter here in Pittsfield. He has been involved with the workings of the city as a concerned citizen for a very long time. He has attended not only City Council meetings but committee meetings when the issue was of concern to his family, and as a result of his involvement in the process he understands the workings of our city.
I also find it disconcerting that Mr. Caccamo works for the School Department. This means that if he gets elected he will be ineffectual in certain areas. He will need to abstain from the discussion and voting on anything that involves budget items, especially any budget items having to do with our schools, because it is a conflict of interest. I don't think that this will serve us well.
Mr. Latura is interested in hearing what people in our ward want. Give him a call and talk with him before the election and then make up your mind. HELENE P. ROBILLARD
